Emerging welterweight star Summer Lynn, recognized by ESPN as their No. 4 pick, made a surprising announcement on Thursday: at only 22, she's hanging up her gloves.
In her latest match, back in April 2022, Lynn dominated Jaica Pavilus, taking the win with a unanimous decision.
In a heartfelt post on Instagram, Lynn expressed, "A huge shoutout to everyone who checked in on me during my hiatus. Mentally and physically, I'm now in a better place. It's been a quiet year for me. Though boxing holds a special place in my heart, I've chosen to part ways with it. The journey, as rewarding as it was, took a toll, and now I'm eager to see what the world beyond the ring offers."
Maintaining an impeccable record of 7 wins, with 3 by knockout, Lynn commenced her professional boxing journey in 2019. She made significant strides in 2021, taking on four matches, but then stepped into the ring just once in 2022.
Hailing from the windy city of Chicago, Lynn was mentored by the renowned Rick Ramos. Ramos, known for his expertise, has also trained notable female pugilists like Jessica McCaskill and Olivia Curry.
